Friday Night Football!!!

That's where we've been the last several Fridays anyway. Danny runs the scoreboard, so that leaves Ava and I to watch the game. She usually does a pretty good job. We have to get there early so she can watch "the boys" warm up.

The first half of the game, this is where you'll find her. Cheering on "her boys".

Ava: "Run boys, run. (waving like a mad woman) Hi Uncle Toby!!!! Run boys, run."

Then eventually, all the cousins find their way together. This little group is inseparable once they find each other. Notice Ava practicing her tackling techniques on my sister?

All in all, Friday night football is very fun and usually pretty entertaining.

Rainy Sunday

It seems whenever I have great plans for the weekend, they get smashed to smitherines by the weather. Sunday, we were planning on going to the TOUCH picnic at Wild Life Prairie Park. As soon as I put Ava down for a nap, the rain started coming in. She usually takes at least a two hour nap, so I figured the rain would past. NOPE!! Plan B: go to our favorite restaurant, Jalisco's. I could eat there everyday if I could. I love the food and the wonderful family that runs it. They eww and ahhh over Ava whenever we go in. As soon as we sit down, Miguel (sad, I know), brings out a small bowl of salsa and shredded cheese just for Ava. It's so cute to see her stop eating whenever she sees a server walking by. She just knows they will either rub her head or pinch her cheeks. She just grins from ear to ear in anticipation... so cute!!!
Once we got home, and soaked A's pants that were covered in salsa, the three of us settled in to watch the football game. Ava only watched a quarter before she got bored. So the two of us started painting at the kitchen table. Painting has become her new favorite hobby. Even though our day didn't turn out as planned, it was fun just being lazy together as a family.

A Little Bit Girlie

Lately Ava has been acting really girlie. She used to be such a tom- boy and would touch anything and wasn't scared of a single thing. Lately, though, she has been quit....... well, a wuss. The neighbor kids found a frog outside and brought it over for Ava to see. Every time she would crouch down to see the frog and it would jump, she would scream. Everyone touched the frog to try to encourage her to touch it. This approach didn't work. Well, the other day Ava and I went to the park, and this is what we found on the ground.

This is about as close as Ava would get to the caterpillar. Oh well, maybe she'll grow out of it.

No more monkies climbing out of bed!!

As many people know, Ava is a great climber. She could climb before she could walk. Lately, Ava has been climbing out of crib a lot. At first, I was just hoping she would forget how she did it, so I could keep her in her crib. I had heard a lot of horror stories from other parents about their adventures of moving their toddlers to big girl/boy beds. Call me selfish, but I like my sleep. We finally bit the bullet and changed Ava's bed to a big girl bed!!!!! The first night was a little ruff, for me anyway. I ended up sleeping on the floor beside her bed. The next day, I really thought, maybe I should reconsider a tent for her crib. I know, I know- terrible mother. I admit, I did actually look into getting a tent to go on top of her crib at one time. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised that the next night she slept the whole night in her bed, and, not only that, she slept in the next morning. We still have occasional struggles getting her into bed, but once she's in, she usually stays until morning.
Notice the bedding? It doesn't match, and it drives me crazy. I let her pick out her own pillow case and fabric for her blanket. I think maybe sometime this fall, we will make the room match her bedding a little bit better. I also think that she will end up going to college with her fish tank. She uses it all the time. I will wake up in the middle of the night and hear her fish tank. I guess I shouldn't complain because it lets me sleep during the night.

Oh me, oh my!!!

Wow, I have really slacked on the whole blogging thing. I have been so busy, but haven't had the time or energy to get it all posted. Rest assured, that with my weekend off, I will hopefully catch you all up and upload some pics. I know that everyone has just been worried sick about the lack of posting. :)
